10 Tips For Luxury Bathroom Remodeling

Nobody wants a bathroom that’s out of date and lackluster. Here are some essential bathroom remodeling tips for freshen things up!

The bathroom is one of the most used rooms in a home and, yet, it’s often left out of the design process and forgotten. In fact, many homeowners have a bathroom high on their renovation list because they feel it’s outdated or under-designed.

Bathroom remodeling can be tricky to get right though since they can be expensive you want the design to last as long as possible.

Luckily, there are professionals (like us!) who can help you find just the right design strategy to make it your dream bathroom. Here are our top ten tips for a great bathroom remodel.

1. Make it Functional

When remodeling your home it’s crucial to make sure everything functions beyond looking great. If the space is hard to use or doesn’t meet your needs, it will just become an annoyance to you for years to come.

With a little bit of planning, you can find beautiful design elements that will also make your life easier. An easy way to add in the functionality is to use things that are multi-purpose. Every element that is added into the bathroom should have a clear purpose and not just there for added clutter.

2. Consider Comfort

Comfort is not a word that often comes to mind when you start to describe a bathroom. All of the hard surfaces can easily feel cold and hard, rather than warm and cozy.

But good interior design can help you develop those feelings in your new bathroom and enjoy it more.

Consider adding elements, like heated flooring, that will boost your comfort level while being in the bathroom.

3. Create a Calm Feeling

Along with adding elements of comfort to your bathroom, you also want to create a calming environment as well.

When you think of the main times when you’ll spend extra time in the bathroom, the morning and night, you can see how a calming place can help change your whole day. Working with a professional can really help you get your vision into action during a remodel. They will be able to create the feeling you’re looking through the color palette and other finishes they choose.

4. Increase Natural Light

Bathrooms can very quickly turn into dark caves if you’re not careful. Very rarely do they have big, beautiful windows to bring in the natural light.

If it’s possible, adding in some opportunities for natural light will help the overall feeling of your new bathroom.

Adding windows can be tricky in a bathroom for privacy reasons but a transom window or one with a filter on it can work great in those types of settings!

5. Think Through Daily Routines

As you’re remodeling your home, don’t forget to think through your daily routines (or your ideal ones) and make accommodations for those activities.

If you regularly take off all of your jewelry in the bathroom, make sure you have a place to store it so it’s not cluttering up the countertops. If you store your vitamins in the bathroom to take first thing, design an accessible place for them. The key to a luxurious feeling bathroom is to have it work for you, not the other way around.

6. Enhance the Mundane

Taking a closer look at your daily bathroom-related routines will inevitably show you how mundane most of those activities are. But maybe as you’re redesigning this space you can change that a little and add some luxury to these basic tasks.

Things like heated floors, a steam shower, or even installing a bidet can make everyday activities more enjoyable!

7. Don’t Forget Storage

The very worst thing you could do during a bathroom remodel is forgetting to consider your storage needs. Nothing brings down the whole look and vibe of a room than clutter!

There are a lot of ways to integrate beautiful storage into any space in your home. The trick to doing it right is to be very thoughtful about what needs to be stored and what would be the best way. When you create a home for everything, you’re much more likely to keep things tidy and be able to enjoy the whole thing more.

8. Enlarge the Shower or Bathtub

Most people think of one thing when they imagine a luxurious bathroom and that’s a large bathtub or shower, which makes sense since it’s one of the major activities of the space.

If you have the opportunity, making your shower or bathtub extra large can be a game-changer. These spots become the design focal point and also make the room more enjoyable for you at the same time.

9. Make a Few Splurges

Luxury doesn’t have to mean everything costs you a lot of money. In fact, there are a lot of ways to stay within your set budget and still have the dream room. But making a few splurges on those wishlist items can bring the whole room up.

Maybe you’d like to be able to sit down and get ready, so a vanity area would be great. Or maybe you’d like to have a warm towel when you get out of the shower and so you need a towel warmer. These little bathroom remodeling tips

can make a big difference and would be well worth the investment.

10. Bring in Personality

The best way to prevent your new bathroom from feeling cold and unwelcoming is to make sure you add in your personality as well.

This is best done through the small, finishing touches like the art, rug, hardware, or decor items. Make the space feel like you by choosing things that represent your personality!
